Блокчейн и более широкая категория технологий распределённого реестра (ТРР) заявляют, что обеспечивают более прозрачный, подотчетный, эффективный и безопасный способ обмена информацией.
Сторонники ТРР заявляют, что ТРР могут решать общие проблемы некоммерческих организаций и неправительственных организаций (НПО), в частности, проблемы прозрачности, эффективности, масштабности и устойчивости (Эксенче, 2017).
Ресурсы в этом разделе относятся конкретно к этой области инноваций и исследований в рамках Международного движения Красного Креста и Красного Полумесяца и более широкого гуманитарного сектора.
В мае 2018 года Международная федерация обществ Красного Креста и Красного Полумесяца (МФКК) в сотрудничестве с Кенийским обществом Красного Креста (КОКК) провела пилотный проект по разомкнутому блокчейн-циклу в округе Исиоло, Кения, оказав помощь более чем двум тысячам семей, пострадавших от засухи.
