Tecnología de registros distribuidos (DLT) y Blockchain
Blockchain y la amplia gama de tecnologías de registros distribuidos (DLT, por sus siglas en inglés) afirman proporcionar una forma de intercambio de información más transparente, responsable, eficiente y segura. Los proponentes sugieren que las DLT pueden abordar los problemas habituales de las organizaciones benéficas y no gubernamentales, como la transparencia, la eficiencia, el alcance y la sostenibilidad (Accenture, 2017). Los recursos de esta sección se refieren concretamente a este ámbito de innovación e investigación dentro del Movimiento de la Cruz Roja y de la Media Luna Roja (MCRMLR) y del sector humanitario más amplio.
En mayo de 2018, la Federación Internacional de Sociedades de la Cruz Roja y de la Media Luna Roja (FICR), en colaboración con la Sociedad de la Cruz Roja de Kenia (KRCS, por sus siglas en inglés), desarrolló el Proyecto piloto de pagos de bucle abierto a través de Blockchain en el condado de Isiolo, en Kenia, y asistió a más de dos mil hogares afectados por la sequía. El objetivo fue explorar los riesgos y los beneficios de la tecnología blockchain para los programas de transferencias monetarias (PTM).
