ECHOAdoption of cash and voucher assistance (CVA) by the humanitarian community has consistently increased over the last six years. It is likely that the numbers will continue to grow. With large transfer volumes, even a small fraction of duplicate payments may add up to large sums of money with high opportunity costs. In practical terms this means that some people in urgent need of support may not be assisted due to the limited resources available. This use case explores the challenge of ensuring organizations do not duplicate assistance or create gaps in supporting eligible people, families or households.

Enabling dignified humanitarian assistance through safe data sharing landscape mapping

Dignified Identities in humanitarian action: Journey and reflection

American Red CrossThis report summarizes the journey and achievements of the Dignified Identity in Cash Assistance (DIGID) consortium to develop, test and validate the humanitarian digital identity concept it launched in 2019 in cash assistance and continuity of health care, and in migration contexts in Kenya and Uganda. With support from the Kenya Red Cross, Uganda Red Cross and Save the Children Kenya, the consortium transitioned the DIGID solution from pilot to scale and conducted user consultations with key stakeholders, implemented pilot and simulation projects, published research and lessons learnt reports, and engaged in discussions with other humanitarian thought leaders to share knowledge.
