Overview of  the Conference

The Cash Conference is convened by the British Red Cross on behalf of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, guided by the theme Towards Transformation.

The first two session of the day will take stock of the humanitarian community’s direction of travel, giving a holistic overview of the changing landscape for humanitarian aid – and the transformative space cash transfer programming can occupy within that.

The breakout sessions will provide an opportunity to look at a specific aspect of cash transfer programming, and for participants to contribute their vision of how we can achieve better outcomes for people in crisis.

The final part of the day will see the International Committee of the Red Cross focus on the delivery of cash in situations of armed conflict; under what conditions it is appropriate, and how it can be used to achieve humanitarian goals such as prevention, protection  and assistance.
