Localisation and Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA)

Cash Hub Panel Discussion

Confused as to how Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) and localisation relate?

As part of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement Planet:Red Summit, the Cash Hub is hosting a panel discussion to explore how CVA, and specifically being cash ready, can help to strengthen National Societies (NS) and contribute to more locally-led humanitarian action.

Recent research by the Cash Hub/CashCap highlighted that strengthening NS cash preparedness enables many National Societies to play a larger, more influential role in the humanitarian response. However, an area of continued weakness was however found to be meaningful involvement of communities in the design and delivery of humanitarian assistance.

The panel will be chaired by Mrs. Terez Curry, the President of the Bahamas Red Cross, with panellists including:

  • Mr. Danger Nhlabatsi, Secretary General, Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross
  • Mrs. Hortense Hien Sombie, the Community Development and Food Security Coordinator, Burkinabe Red Cross
  • Mr Marwan Al Awar, Director of Disaster Management Sector, Lebanese Red Cross
  • David Peppiatt, Director, Cash Hub, British Red Cross.

The event will take place on 13 October 2021, at 16:00 Geneva time. This panel discussion will last up to 90 minutes and be conducted in English.
